LionsGate Takes "Earth"
The latest flick at Berlinale to find a home with a distributor is the documentary Earth, a feature-length adaptation of the popular Planet Earth BBC series. The film was shot in parrallel with the series, which has already broadcast in the UK.
The vibrant footage and compelling images (the series is currently boasting a 9.9 rating over at IMDb) center around three animal families, following their "astonishing journeys across the globe." If the series subtitle, "as you've never seen it before", is any indication, audiences are in store for something altogether unique.
The doc is narrated by David Attenborough, who voices the TV series and, from the looks of his credits, is the UK's Steve Irwin.
Look for "Earth" in theaters in the fall; release in the US will probably depend on the overall climate for docs six months from now.
