Very large bug! Body length was 2 inches (50 mm). Wingspan was 3 inches (75mm) as held in the photo. When it revved up to fly it showed a patch of crimson red on the hind wing, and the wings opened to about 5 inches (125mm)! I've been shooing the moths away after I photograph at my bug light in the early morning as our resident Carolina Wrens have been feasting on the ones that linger.
