Another of these winged beauties came to my bug light overnite - a wing span between 5 and 6 inches! I got it to crawl onto my finger so I could transfer it from my house siding to a secluded spot amongst the lilies in our garden. In the process it opened up and showed the eye-spots on its hindwings.
