Walnut.jpg

This piece of walnut was cut 100 years ago. It is well aged now. The PaD forum reminded me I still had some left after I made my camera years ago. The dual ball and cage on the top was made in the late 1920s or early 1930s by my father from this same walnut. I do not know what I will do with it, but I like the feel and look of the wood so one day I will find a worthy project.

Great talents! Do you suppose that the wood will 'call' to you and someday you will 'see' what you are supposed to carve it into?

It was just a toy. Actually something to do with the wood before the days of TV. He would also carve one piece of wood into a chain with interlocked links.

That's amazing! Do the balls roll around in the cage? And this was made from a solid piece of wood? Wow, what an heirloom.

Neat carving! It's amazing that the piece of wood is still there, in it's raw state, not used yet ... it will really have to be a pretty amazing project for you to use it now! LOL
Nice sentiments ...
