General Horatio Gates House

The Gates House (c. 1751) commemorates both the Revolutionary War hero
and the Continental Congress's stay in York, during the British occupation
of Philadelphia. General Gates (1727-1805) hero of the Battle of Saratoga
occupied this English style stone house while attending the Continental
Congress. The second floor banquet room is said to have been the site of
Lafayette's famous toast to Washington, which signaled the French
support of Washington.

So nice to see they've kept it up instead of bulldozing it! ~V~
