Arizona's Fall color isn't considered as spectacular as the hard wood forests of the East or as dramatic and awe-inspiring as Fall in the Rocky Mountains, but there are pockets of spectacular color and awe-inspiring beauty that rival that found anywhere else in the US. And because the elevation in Arizona ranges from thirteen thousand feet to under a thousand, there are several months worth of fall color to choose from, meaning lots of locations. My primary goals for Arizona this fall were to photograph Oak Creek's West fork, Canyon de Chelly, and Havasu Falls. As Meatloaf would say "two out of three aint bad". I found wonderfully colorful bigtooth maples at Oak Creek's West fork, peaking cottonwoods at Canyon de Chelly, but my plans for Havasu Falls were washed out on consecutive weekends in early December.
