The underwater reef life of the Maldives is among the most colourful and diverse in the world. Scores of countless tropical fish, of all sorts, patterns and colour combinations, capture the eyes behind the diver's or snorkeller's mask and the fins do not need to propel fast; most of the fish seem not to be annoyed by the human presence, leaving plenty of room for underwater photography. The pictures presented here were all taken with my Sony U60 underwater camera while snorkelling over the Filitheyo island house reef. Where applicable, the name of the specific fish has been entered, followed by the average size (centimetres) in brackets.
