This impressive bridge named "The Great West Sea Bridge" spans Asan Bay on the west coast of South Korea. It is by far the longest (7.31KM) and tallest bridge in Korea and one of the longest in Asia. The center span roadway is 182 meters high (as tall as a 66-story building). It is also the world's ninth longest six-lane bridge. It was built to withstand an earthquake of up to a 6.0 magnitude on the Richter scale.
This bridge lies near the developing port area of Pyongtaek which provides trade and ferry service with China to the west.
At night, color wheels provide an ever changing rainbow of colors... a photographers delight! On a clear day/night, the huge towers can be seen for 30-40 KM.
The large lettering on the towers has since been removed.
