Petra, Jordan

I have always dreamed of visiting Petra and recently had a chance for a very quick 4 hour visit. One of the new 7 wonders of the world, Petra is an archaeological site in southwestern Jordan. Rediscovered by the western world in 1812, the origin of Petra is somewhat a mystery, but most believe the Nabataeans created most of this ancient settlement. One of the more famous carved monuments is the “Treasury” which has a spectacular entrance by way of a kilometer long “Siq” or narrow gorge. This is the location where Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was filmed. Petra is a fascinating archeological site to visit - to do this right I would recommend 2 days.
