Hi Bob,
Sounds like you were about six years before me. I went to AO school in Jax in 1960 and joined VMA 211 in April of 1961. Several deployments later we were off to Iwakuni in March of '62, returning in March of '63. Spent the rest of my time with 211 until discharged in '64. We were in Iwakuni during the Cuban missile crisis in Oct '62 and I was on a special weapons loading team. Remember it like it was yesterday loading the weapon on the bird as it sat on the hot pad. Next day it was back to business as usual and most of us never knew what it was really all about. Never gave it much thought at the time but they must have flown the weapon up from Okinawa since they weren't allowed in Japan.

HELLO DAVE,

I WANTED TO THANK YOU FOR TAKING ALL THE GREAT PICS OF THE TEMECULA CAR SHOW. YOU TOOK SOME GREAT PICS OF MY "VIPER RED" 47 CHEVY 5 WINDOW COUPE THE DAY BEFORE THE EVENT. I WAS NICELY SURPRISED TO SEE THAT YOU USED MY CAR FOR YOUR GO TO PIC TO OPEN THE SITE. I WAS GOING TO BRAG IT UP TO MY BUD'S THAT MY LITTLE 'OL COUPE WAS GOOD ENOUGH TO GET THAT MUCH ATTENTION!! BUT YOU CHANGED PICS ON ME!! NOW THE ONLY ONE TO KNOW THAT MY CAR HAD IT'S 15 MINUTE CALIM TO FAME, IS ME! NO MATTER, I APPRECIATE THE FACT THAT YOU USED MY CAR FOR THE COUPLE OF DAYS AS THE ICON. THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR PICTURES OF THE ENTIRE EVENT.

BILL

Semper Fi Dave, Your WestPac gallery is FANTASTIC! What historic photos. Wow. You should contact www.USMCCCA.org and let them know you have these. Get them added to the Corp's historic archives. I'm pretty sure they would fit in real nice somewhere. I assume you still have the negs??? Great work. Oh and do you still have that camera???

Dave,

I enjoyed meeting you at the LHHS Car Show. Your pics turned out very well, especially the rims and the engine of the blue '69 Chevelle. I'll send you some of mine when I get them developed.

I have a question. Between the bright glare of the chrome and the shadows, how do you deal with the high contrast for the engines? I noticed you didn't use fill-flash. You can reach me at mmcglone@ix.netcom.com

Thanks

Mike

I happened across your galleries today and enjoyed looking thru them. Then happened to see the one about the Temecula Car Show. We lived in Temecula for 7 years and just moved away 3 years ago, (to Texas). We too, enjoyed seeing all the antique cars being drivin all around town each year during that event. Great photos!

The cars and your work are pieces of art!

Liked the site. The model cars setting is really good and shows off the quality of the models. I might try and take some of my collection of Morgan models. I have an EOS650 and 5 but will upgrade to digital at some point. I also have a fuji digital camera for point and shoot situation. Regards Richard

Dave, thanks for your comments on my Vermont pictures. Especially coming from a photographer who is obviously much more skilled than I. I love some of the shots you have on your site.
