ACRexample.jpg

I am posting this shot in response to opinions that the A100 is 'soft'. This is a hand-held, normal shot taken using the 100mm f2.8 soft focus lens (with soft focus at zero, which makes it a very sharp standard tele), 1/320th at f9, a good working aperture. The raw .ARW file is processed using Photoshop CS2 Adobe Camera Raw version 3.4, with the default sharpening setting of 25. Noise reduction is set to zero for both luminance and colour. A strong contrast curve with adjusted exposure, shadow and brightness settings yields the result I want from the shot. Any additional sharpening does nothing to enhance detail at 100 per cent screen view, but if the image was being printed, unsharp masking would improve its impact. Copyright, please note; you are welcome to view and print the image but do not reproduce it or post it elsewhere except as a link. Take a look at the sloping pasture land in the upper left side of the shot and the shepherd with sheep. I think the A100 has excellent fine detail retention and dropout of detail below Nyquist is perfectly controlled.
