The "Walking Coastal Sydney Project" has been put together by a joint partnership of coastal local government precincts within the greater Sydney metropolitan area.
It covers a seaboard strip stretching from the Barrenjoey Lighthouse at Palm Beach, in the north, to the Bass and Flinders Memorial at Cronulla, in the south. They have
produced a website providing detailed downloadable maps & brochures which link all of the best available nature reserve tracks, headland vantage points, beachfronts
and scenic thoroughfares. Together they become a wonderful walking route travelling from one end of coastal Sydney to the other.
Gerry Kennedy and I are attempting the task of actually walking the route (four to five hours in a session) taking photographs of what we see. This completed series of
galleries will chronicle our journey from north to south. Hopefully, when we're done, nearly everything of general interest along the entire route will have appeared.
Gerry will be fine but I shall either become VERY fit or finish up in a cardiac ward - time alone will tell.
For those who may be interested in tackling this walk someday and for those who may not be familiar with the locality, please click on each image and take a closer look.
I have done my best to provide a detailed commentary for every picture.
We begin at the place where the "Sydney Coast 3" gallery finishes ... Bondi Beach. It is one week later.
