The path soon became bush track and I spied a young Kookaburra in a tree. Kookaburras are the
largest subspecies of "kingfisher" birds in the world. They are famous for their raucous "laugh".
I am always apprehensive when they start into laugh as I walk by. I always have the feeeling that
they know something about the trail ahead which I DO NOT know and find my efforts are therefore
worthy of ridicule. I was pleased that, on this occasion, the bird remained silent.
