The Manly and North Head foreshores are a popular place. There are mothers with strollers, joggers
with dogs on lead, old men hikers like us, organised exercise groups and tourists. While people
know this stretch of sand as Manly Ocean Beach, the actual foreshore precinct is "South Steyne".
Confusing? Yes I agree. North Steyne is a locality AND a beach. South Steyne is really just a locality.
Anyway, my favourite Manly steamer from the time of my youth, and my passage to a "thousand miles
from care" was named "South Steyne".
