This is 3 of 4 in a series of pics I took of US Army vehicles at a static display by a US Army Reserve unit at Laguna Seca Mazda Raceway in Sep 07.
The term Hemmet came from the original military nomenclature of HEMMT which stands for Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck. They made several versions of the original 8 wheel drive M977 version; they are used for transporting heavy materiel to troops in combat zones such as bulk ammo and artillery rounds.
Seems fitting to post a few military vehicle photos in conjunction with Veteran's Day - thanks to all of the brave men and women in the Armed Forces fighting the War on Terrorism (they and they families are making great sacrifices year after year).
