I am a writer working on my first novel, which is set mainly in South Korea. A chapter in my book describes street scenes in Seoul in the 1970s, and I have had to dig into and learn a lot about the cars that dominated the streets of Korea at that time. I was very happy to come across this website, because I see so many Toyota Coronas in 1970s pictures of Seoul streets. Any more information or any other resources you can point me to will be appreciates.

Before Korea started producing world class cars such as the Hyundai Equus, Hyundai Genesis, Proto Spirra, and Ssangyong Chairman, they made more humble cars such as the Hyundai Excel, Stellar and Pony back in the 1980s. Before that (back in the 1960s and 70s) they copied successful cars from other countries through shared technology such as the Toyota/Sinjin Corona, the Kia/Mazda K303/RX3. They also used to import cars such as the Ford Granada, Ford Cortina, Fiat 124 and Toyota Crown/New Crown/Cressida (imported from 1967 well into the 1980s).
This is of interest to me because my father-in-law had a black Toyota Crown back in the day.
