Canepa Design Auto Museum

Watching Barrett Jackson on SpeedTV coupled with the long dry spell since the last race or car show at Laguna Seca got me jonesin' to see some cool cars up close and personal so I trekked out to Canepa Design www.canepa.com in Scotts Valley in the Santa Cruz Mountains to get my fix. Bruce Canepa has won races in everything from Kenworth big rigs to a Porsche 930 Turbo rail dunebuggy hill climber built by Paul Newman to the white last 935 ever produced to the Trans Am series legendary blue '69 Mustang Boss 302 Gurney valued at $1,095,000 that won "Best Ford" at Pebble Beach. Other notables were the authentic green 426 Hemi Charger R/T, two 300SLs - one gullwing and one hardtop conv, a mint Dino, an early Cobra from '63, THE timewarp white '74 Pantera with 135 actual miles - never even been titled, and some of the greatest racecars ever produced including a couple 917s and Richard Petty's 427 Cobra engine NASCAR Ford Torino. On the way home I even detoured by Mountain View Krispy Kreme for a piping hot half dozen glazed dozens.
