Alaskan Ice Field

Where do glaciers in Alaska come from? We found out when we flew from Anchorage to Seattle: glaciers pour - slowly - out of gigantic ice fields, like this one far below our plane. The dark lines on the lower left are the remains of various ridges, surrounded and then ground down by the movement of the glacier.
