Photographs displayed in a web browser are best viewed on a calibrated monitor, using a colour-managed browser such as Apple Safari or Firefox. These browsers will honour any embedded ICC profiles associated with the photos they display, reproducing colours as the photographer would have seen them on his or her own monitor. Internet Explorer is not profile aware, and will automatically assign the sRGB profile to photos it displays.
I shoot exclusively in RAW, use DxO Photolab 6 to convert my RAW files to .tiff files, and then use Adobe Photoshop for final editing and image refinement.
