Is this the Ford on Fetherbed Lane across the river Enborne? If so Sydmonton Common is adjacent to it and I have seen many adders in there during the forties. There were plenty of trout in the river back then. Along the river from there were many, many dafodils in the spring. There was also a very active moonshine still used by the USAAF personnel stationed at Greenham Commmon.

DID ANYONE ELSE EVER SEE ADDERS SWIMMING IN THIS STREAM IN THE SUMMER? IT WAS A FAVOURITE PLACE OF THEIRS TO COOL-OFF!
