The Witches broom nebula forms part of the Veil nebula, sometimes referred to as the Cygnus loop. This nebula is a supernova remnant, the result of an explosion approx. 7-10 thousand years ago. The nearby bright star is 52 Cygnus. Distance from Earth is 1400 L/Y.
