Welcome to this series of galleries. My brother Jim and I collaborated on this collection of vintage family photographs to make them more accessible to our extended family and to others who may have an interest. We gathered, inventoried, and documented important information on about 700 photographs dating back to the 1880's. Jim provided an incredible amount of historical knowledge on both subject and chronology. I took on the scanning project which was a major undertaking since many of the photographs were in very poor condition and required extensive restoration.
This has become a very important project for me. Along the way, I have encountered our families, parents, grandparents in unexpected ways. Many hours have been spent removing dust specks and other surface blemishes from the hundreds of prints. My intent was not to take away all of the effects of the many years but only to remove distracting elements. The experience of spending this time closely examining the detailed features and varied expressions of our relatives, some of whom I have never met, has been very profound. I hope that you enjoy viewing these treasures as much as I've enjoyed working on them. And that you, like myself, will return to them from time to time as a source of connection to our family both past and present. Daniel Wickwire (January 1, 2004)

Thank you Dan & Jim for this amazing treasure! There are so many photos that are new to me, and many that brought familiar memories back into focus. I shall visit often! I appreciate the hours of work in identifying, dating & organizing; scanning & restoring and posting all of these on this site.
With admiration, gratitude and love,

I enjoyed looking at the gallery of Mom and Dad on May 27th, their 63rd wedding anniversary.
