Aid Station Forward

The aid station command track in Lai Khe basecamp prior to going out on an operation. With the trailer it towed full of medical equipment and supplies it was a handful to drive, especially off the beaten path. While it was marked with small red crosses, the red cross symbol seemed to translate into "Shoot me here!" in Vietnamese. Medics didn't wear or carry them. It was unarmed, but the people riding it weren't.

Don't forget the large ammo cans with chunks of ice and cold cokes. As an infantry troop I saw inside one of the coolers as a man opened lid. I offered to pay a five dollar mpc for one can. But was refused and I saw the coolers were guarded secret. After a couple weeks in jungle a cold coke was like canned gold.

As Mechanized Infantry we rode on top of our vehicles. The inside was full of supplies and equipment.

At $5.00+ a gallon for diesel fuel these days (in California) I wouldn't want to commute in it. Thanks for the comments.

It looks like it would be a real beast to maneuver, off road.
