Major Donald Holleder - Distinguished Service Cross - KIA 17 Oct. '67

A plaque dedicated to Major Don Holleder, West Point All-American. The plaque hangs in Holleder Center at the US Military Academy. Major Holleder was killed in action while trying to rescue wounded soldiers during the Battle of Ong Thanh, Oct. 17, 1967. Had the command group on my FOX NET, DELTA BTRY, 1/5 ARTY in Phouc Vinh during the battle. We lost Pinky Durham at the same time.

FYI...I live in Rochester, New York where Major Holleder was from...For years there was a football stadium named after him...I did not know him personally, put i understand he was one "hell" of a nice guy.
