I forgot to say my brothers name is Don and your picture looked so close as his when he was your age.

I was 1A and had already been down to Ft. Bragg for an initial visit to see if you had anything that would keep you from wasting time because they wanted to cram you into everything and anything when the word came. I remember plank road and all that equipment doing exercises. But, President Nixon came out with this Ping Pong ball lottery system and I heard about it when I was managing an Arbys on Tryon St on the edge of Charlotte and I found out later I was number 314 picked so I continued my education and later went to work for the airlines. Sometimes I feel guilty that I didn't just go ahead and enlist but there was so much hate going on and assinations of Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King so time moved on and before you knew it Nixon brought our troops home so they could fight another mental war on our own soil which was a heart breaking shame. God bless our armed services for defending our flag and constitution that allows us the freedom we still have for now!! You are indeed a hero like so many other brave USA patriots. All of you deserve medals, medical assistance and love from everyone. I am now 71 and I thank you for your service to our country.!

Yeah, we looked young, until you got close enough to see our eyes.
