Note the line knot faces the sail track and the off-center attachment is to port side (the hook on t his mast is a modified Hobie 20 hook mounted on the starboard side of the mast...original sailcraft hook pulled out when I went to the newer prebend sail/mast spreaders and cranked on the downhaul/mainsheet tension). It seems almost every boat I've sailed has a different sweet spot for how to position the ring, which way to turn the mast, how much to turn it, how high to hoist the sail or even what type of ring works best. Just try different ones until you find something the works best for your boat.
