A 16:1 purchase can be easily added to this setup by replacing the short line with two longer lines, each bowlined to one of the blocks. The other ends of the lines are passed through the sail tack kringle, down the opposite side of the mast and into a clamcleat mounted low on each side of the mast. Now when the blocks apply 8:1 purchase, force if multiplied by 2, giving 16:1 total.
