Great shot, Tom!! It has all different kinds of leading lines. Not only leading from large to small with the spiral, but from right to left with the root. Then from top to bottom with the plant itself, from bottom to top with the feeler root, they're just not straight. Did anyone say they have to be straight? I have to agree with Rod tho; more DOF would add to the pic, but it isn't easy to get in low light at this close ... unless you use a flash w/diffuser ";^D). I'd like to see the whole plant, too. I love the dynamic feel of it; so many things to look at. Cheers, -mikey

I'm in two minds about the shallow depth of field but the shot does look nice. I'm not too sure about the leading line aspect of this as I look at the shell as one. My eyes don't get led into the shot.
Nice work anyhow mate.

Very interesting Tom. Dont know what biological event is happening here but the visual impact is stimulating with two significant distractions from the journey into the spiral - I think they are shoots or roots. The shallow dof emphasizes these visual elements very well and provides balance to the otherwise very compelling shell center. -tv

I was wondering what kind of snail has multiple green tentacles. You have definitely captured the wetness on the shell and plant. John
