Thanks Techo - My intent was to make it look fairy tale like....or magical as in a story book - as that's the thought that popped into my head. jano

I think this is a marvelous representation of what I imagined. Much more whimsy like, and I do like it. It's like a scene from a fairy tale.Especially like that the wick is a glow. So the shape of the smoke is a very nice feature here. I see the tiny red spot on the wick as "connects the dots" if you will, for the focal points, from the lips to the candle much more smoothly.

Thanks everyone for commenting, and i'm glad you like it and have differing thoughts on it. The light used was a lcd wind up light which i placed behind the candle to light the smoke. I found that was really the only light I needed to illuminate the face as well. As far as the wick... i had let the candle burn so I knew how I wanted to turn the candle. The most difficult part of the shot was getting enough smoke into the image at just the right time to work with. jano

great colours, how did you light this Jano?

Jano and Techo make a creative team to be reckoned with. Marvelous. I love how the smoke dances to her lips. Rod: I like the bent wick. After looking at this for a while I do think it works better having my focus pulled back and forth between the face and the candle.

Looks like this was a very difficult shot to produce. The framing is wonderful. I would have like a bit more sharpness in the face particularly at the lips. Very creative.

The colors really make it for me, well done. Rich

This does look great for the challenge Jano well done:-)
The only thing that doesn't sit right right is the candle area with the wick being bent, which drew me eye as if it was bent from you blowing the candle out but the smoke which looks too defined & solid isn't affected if you were blowing.
It looks like there's still a touch of flame present. The candle area is a problem for me, maybe it's just the strange looking smoke.
Very nicely done anyhow:-)

Thanks Mary Anne, Brent and CJ for commenting. I tried this in b&w but it just didn't hold the punch that I envisoned. jano
