Don't mind me Gerald, I was just being silly with my comments for a bit of fun:-)

@Dorys and Doris ;-) and all others thanks for your comments. As English is not my native language and I have to use a dictionary sometimes I don't quite understand why Rod is calling Dorys to order--but perhaps it is better not to deepen this topic here.
BTW Dorys with the exposure settings given above the result was underexposed. I have increased exposure by more than +2 EV in Adobe raw before making the final adjustments in PS. There is a rule of thumb for correct exposure of the moon (1/125s f/16 or f/11 at iso100) I never remember it when I try to take a picture of the moon so I always try several different settings.
@Rod, I have been expecting that somebody would state this objection. I have no problem with an opinion that is different from mine. I leave it to everybody to consider my entry on topic or off topic. Taking a picture of the other side of the moon would be only possible for astronauts.
@Paul, thanks for taking my part (and for an inspiring topic which gives an approach to the challenge that is quite different from the usual ones).
Gerald

Rod,
If you were on the other side of the moon then this would be the dark side as you wouldn't be able to see it and we are not alone. Be aware too of what it says on the lead out of the album "There is no dark side of the moon, it's all dark"
It's on topic.
It stays.
He he

Herg this must be off topic. This is a shot of the light side of the moon. Makes for a silly album title too:-)

Thanks, Pfehlauer and Rich. For the moment I can only give some basic camera and lens info but I hope to find the original file with EXIF data in order to add it to the tech notes. Levels and some sharpening in PS. -Gerald

Excellent image! Could you tell us please how you did it? Camera-lens-aperture, etc.?
