Thanks Techo! She did like it! I got her something not much bigger than this box. An Ipod mini. It was a big suprise. theFly

You've done it again m8 :-) How was the Birthday party? hope you folks had a lot of fun.

Speaking of the photo.. What a swell idea! I also really like the composition. Even though we don't see your whole face it's still so expressive, just perfect. It's really great how it is already so if I may just share a thought... maybe a tiny little bow somewhere in the corner of the top of lid of the box? to help show it's an extra special gift.

Thanks jstrong! Most of my self portraits are light very simply. This was light by a 500 watt $10 shop light and the (2) 60 watt over head light in the room. Most of my shots are spot metered at the brightest point. This makes the rest of the picture under exposed and moody.

Most of my b&w shots are shot with a $5 alum shop light with a 60watt clear bulb.

One of the things I like about lighting is to use only a single source of light. I think it adds to the drama and mood of the picture.

Creativity. I think the best thing to do is read the all the words written by the host. And then read them again.

Your photos, creativity and lighting always amaze me. Have you ever shared your lighting technique? Your family will love these for years to come.

Jose,

Never thought about being an actor. My mother did want me to make movies or be a photographer. These challenges force me to in front of the camera. Never can find anyone else willing to take 20-30 shots of the same thing. theFly

Well done Lee! Your expression in this one is great (as it was on your picture titled Dizzy). Did you ever thought about becoming an actor?
Cheers. -Jose Pablo.

Thanks Rod! It was an empty box. Although my wifes birthday is on Sunday. I need to get something to fill it. 8-) theFly
