I walked thru this area plenty of times and never noticed this gage until today. The blue coloring contrasted so well against the darker crete and water.

I cropped a bit to get the strong diagonal line and balance the whole image.

When I was in college, I worked as an Engineering Assistant for the USGS. My work was all in the office, making calculations of water flow from the data provided by these gauges. Because I'm "a girl," regulations prevented me from going out into the field (this was over 40 years ago), and I never saw one of the gauges until your photo today. These days, the work I used to do is probably completely computerized. Thanks for your "sign"...it brought back memories.
