Shrimp for the Barbie
* Ann Chaikin

At my brother's house

My sister-in-law gave a benefit dinner for 30 people this evening. One of the appetizers was shrimp cooked by my brother on the barbeque. They were sitting on the counter waiting to be cooked when I took this picture. I cut out the original background because it ws cluttered and took the eye away from the shrimp.

Paul, I tried reworking this with more pop but found I liked it better this way. When I added contrast it changed the soft color of the shrimp. I like the softness of the color contrasted with the sharp focus. So it stays as is. ;) Ann

Looks like a forest of shrimp! Perhaps a touch more contrast or curves for a little more "pop?" How do you like your new 17-40?

As I was watching this picture slowly download over my slow phone connection, I was thinking what a nice neutral background it had and how the gradient enhanced the shrimp. Then I read your comments. It's a nice shot...and the shrimp look yummy! --Mary Anne

I agree. It also looks like a shrimp ceiling. I like this picture very much.

Wonderful shot, Ann... so much going on with just two elements. Reminds me of the bamboo scaffolding they use to construct buildings in Hong Kong... and this is a great construction. Well spotted and photographed.
