Yeah, that's why I didn't mention it until someone else did. -- Victor

Beautiful silhouette Nico. I am reminded of the beautiful girl in the newspaper dress from a couple of challenges back. Indeed, it even looks as though this could be the remnants of that dress! :-) Najinsky

Hi Victor, thanks for the comments and questions. The wall was pretty much just a standard white-painted surface and the floor was of wood, if I recall correctly, also painted white. As explained in an earlier post, I edited out the border between the two surfaces. And yes, for sure, the marks on the floor come from a whole evening of ballet-themed photography, jumps, twirls, etc. Hope this helps? Kind regards jnconradie

Very nice image. I would be interested to know what the floor and background consist of. Mind sharing? Are those footprints I see? When I first saw this picture shortly after it was put up, I was distracted by the curve of the model's lower foot. Since my original impression, I've decided I like that aspect of the picture. -- Victor

Really nice! And I very much like the crop or framing - the balance just seems so nice. Jim H.

Lovely image Nico - I like how you caught the movement of the dancer's skirt. Great contrasting image! CJ

Thanks for the kind comments. Much appreciated.

Debbi, the wall and floor behind the dancer was lit with a single honeycomb-fitted studio flash, to the right of the camera, at about the same height as the dancer. Two other studio flashes were in use to provide a small measure of detail - and I felt afterwards the camera-facing side of the dancer could have been lit some more.

Post-processing: cropped slightly, converted to bw, cleaned up various distractions on the floor, pushed up the contrasts and played with levels... until it looked sort-of like what I had in mind. Oh, sorry, yes and since the studio did not have an infinity curve floor, I used healing brushes and cloning tools to even out the transition from wall to floor.

Regards jnconradie

This is fun! I love how the silhouette communicates the joy of the dancer. Ann

Please expalin the lighting..is it coming throught the backdrop or fired from above in front? I love this.

This is fabulous Nico, I love the lighting and the sharp silhouette detail.

The fine wisps of hair, the delicate fingers and the shoe strap give this a magic but real quality.
Beautiful ~ Regards Melbob
