Thank you tomasz, bruce, Jim and traveller!

Traveller - Tech Info. The 17-25 sec exposures are all bursts. This is a small-town display and hard to time. Typically they are single bursts with quite a bit of time in between, but about the time the camera is writing 25 seconds worth of dark-frame subtraction they would send up a little flurry I could have captured in 5 sec . . .oh well. the 195 sec exposure is for the background after the show, but it was underexposed (too early for the moon) and so I redid it at 310 seconds opened up the aperture more and increased the ISO. The reason the 195 sec exposure is included is the star trails did come out, so it added a bit to the sky I think.

I actually took a background shot at dusk before the show started, when there was more ambient light to help me out - but once the bursts went up they were higher than I expected and had to zoom out and re-take after the show. The star trails were a happy accident - not planned. If I wasn't so lazy I would have sat in that spot for another 3-4 hours to get the bright moon that did eventually show itself :) - but it was sort of dark and lonely (I was on a tiny little beach not much bigger than my tripod that I had to travel cross-country through the forest to get to - so I wasn't really into spending the night)

Jim - interetsing comment on the "tastefully limited". That was a hard decision - my natural inclination was to keep adding anything that looked pretty, but of course it becomes a mess pretty quickly. I still think maybe I included too many - but I suppose there would be as many opinions on something like that as viewers.

Thanks again, Cindy

What a great photo. Fine work, indeed. I love the way you put that all together. I think the best compliment is that I might have never known it was a composite without being told. But you'd have needed to set it all up and then have your friend on the other side of the lake set off just the perfect - and tastefully limited - bouquet of fireworks. Now you've got me wondering. Is the large mountain in the far background the reason for one of the two longer exposures? In any case, it's fantastic! Jim H.

Well, I say, sitting here jaw agape...Ah Ha, yes, hummmmm...this is so wonderful so why don't someone just take me out and shoot me now?

Cindy, you must tell us which shots are which....310 seconds?!?

Finally, you Daughter can eat her heart out.

Best Wishes, Traveller
