Thanks, Traveller, Kiki and Mary Anne!
Kiki, it was a really nice idea and I am SO sorry that we didn't cooperate with your surprise! I looked back at the times on my images and it looks like we got off our excursion early about 12:30, soaked and shivering. We spent the next 2 and a half or so hours getting warm again before we went out the second time. So we just missed you at both ends. I can't believe it! How we would have loved to meet you in person and have you show us the sights of your city in person. I don't think the person you saw at the railing was me. My husband carries a video camera so we will have to look at his tape and see if by chance you are on it. I took some shots from the ship but, unfortunately, I studiously avoided the building where you were standing. Looking at my shots you wouldn't know that there was a tourist shop right on the dock. I have inspected them closely, nonetheless, but no sign of anyone with a green coat, white slacks and umbrella. It was not a silly thing to do but quite wonderful and spontaneous! I am so sorry you ended up standing in the rain for so long, and taking the day off work, however. I know we would have had a marvelous time with you if we had made the connection. But I must say that all this just makes me want to go back and really see Oslo and visit you at a time when, perhaps, you don't have quite so much on your plate (and a guest room, perhaps!!!). Thanks from the bottom of my heart for making the effort even though it didn't work out. ~Sharon

What a great shot, Sharon. The saturated colors just pop off the gray of the pavement.

Well at least you got one good shot - nice graphics :)

One moment I wondered if I caught glimpse of you btw: Hair and stature looked right, but she was too far away to identify facial treats. She was on the walkway on the deck right above the ship's blue hull (to the far left in the snapshot I uploaded earlyer). There was a man there too, with a small non-slr camera at the time. The person I thought might be you was very close to him for some seconds, both around 7-10 feet from the door. But she went inside again shortly after. The guy then took a stroll on the walkway, and seemed to take a few pictures.

Chances of it actually being you - and any connection with the other person - are mighty small of course. But in the weird case there was a connection: He must have some shots with me on them. Pale, dark green coat, white jeans and umbrella - probably folded at the time. And I have very dark hair, not orange ;)

Popping up there without an agreement is probably one of the silliest things I've done though. It was bound to flop. A real estate agent would probably have described me with a "great potential for wisdom". I'll get a spare bedroom in the new apartment as well, and we'll rehearse this again.
