This is a half nautilus shell. I placed it on a small reading lamp to photograph it and the light shining through the shell created the colour. I was disappointed with the centre being black, so I took it into Photoshop and did some dodge and burn to try to bring up some detail. The result was the blue centre. Not quite what I was looking for, but quite interesting.
