Thanks Arn - I find I'm enjoying B&W more and more! :-) CJ

Well chosen DOF and _very_ good tone/contrast in the b&w conversion. -Arn

Thanks Shu! This is one of my favorite B&W images. I liked how the straight edges of the S&P shakers and the handle of the mug echoed the lines of the square and the shiny, sharper look of the chrome pepper shaker against the softer look of the salt shaker. :-) CJ

I like this, too. It's a great composition of ordinary objects and has nice DOF. The wavy edge on the napkins is a nice touch. Of course the salt and pepper point to black and white so here you have a very appealing image, IMO! shu

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that's so nice. :) Nothing lacking here, indeed! Such a nice, comfortable image. Good job. ~ Lonnit

LOL! OK Lonnit, with pleading like that, how could I not change it back! Here's #2! :-) CJ
Canon DSLR Challenge08-Jul-2006 21:27
I LOVED # 2!! Hurry, put it back before anyone notices! LOL! # 2 was fantastic for the chrome and I loved how it enhanced the pepper texture. This was probably what I meant in the first place, but now that I've seen # 2, I know THAT was right and I was being too conservative with the sharpening. Please, please, pretty please with sugar on top, put # 2 back! :) ~ Lonnit

Lonnit - You answer too quickly! After I uploaded it, I saw Michael's suggestion again so I went back and used his settings - so here's version 3! Can you see any difference or is it too difficult to remember the other one. CJ

It's a little sharper than I was thinking, but I do like it - in fact, lots! Good job. :) ~ Lonnit

Thanks for your input Lonnit and Michael. I had sharpenned it, but perhaps not quite enough. Here is an updated image - too much or not enough? CJ

I like this, CJ, it just really appeals to me. I enjoy reflections and high contrast in b&w. Your composition is very satisfying as well. I know Lonnit is not "tack-sharp obsessed" and I wouldn't have thought additional sharpness on this image. But, she's mentioned it and I've considered it and I think she's spot-on. Rather than vanilla sharpening, perhaps a local contrast adjustment (USM amount: 10%-15%, radius 50, threshold 0)? Curious to hear what you think. -Michael

Nice. Works well. I wouldn't be opposed to a minor tad of sharpening, - you know I'm not tack-sharp obsessed. ;) ~ Lonnit
