Victory Y *

San Francisco, California

This victory salute is commonly called the "V", but it looks more like a "Y" to me. Or, if you just look at the top outline, it's "W".

Yeh, cycling is a great sport.
I always love watching the road race .....so much tactics..just go flat out for as long as you can and save yourself for the sprint , coming off the shoulder of the rider in front, and powering over the top in the drive to the line.
The Velodrome really gets my nod for excitement the racing is always close and unpredictable except when the Aussies compete ;)

Nicole is a professional cyclist, but I don't think there are separate championships for amateur and professional women cyclists. I tried to check on nicolecooke.com. I didn't find the answer, but I did find a tighter crop of this photo. I liked it, so I duplicated it here. --Garrett

Yes, there are a lot of letters and numbers in the background, but for this challenge, I think the only one that matters is the shape of the main subject. I was thinking about cropping it tighter, but I decided that the sponsors' banners are essential to the photo (not because of the letters, but because they define the place). By the way, the rider is Nicole Cooke, wearing the British National Champion's jersey. --Garrett

Oh oh, does this qualify? there is a lot more obvious letters here in signage.
I thought numbers and letters were not allowed............or is that only if I can find another "V" somewhere on the signs ? or his shirt or pants.............this is wearing me out,I will hop on my bike and re-tyre for the night.
