Regarding the color: I wanted to integrate the mottled background (a craggy OOF rock) with the seeds to convey a sense of atmospheric turbulence that complements the tumbling. Cold toned light would have yielded a garish look. While the image is nearly monochromatic, a BW version is awful as you might imagine-the shadows popout.

Beautiful artful shot. I love the composition and although the shot might work better in another colour, I don't dislike the red.

Jonathan, this one is very nice as well! IMO, this is more artistic, while the other one is more documentary, but really they both contain artistic as well as documentary qualities. For me, the wow-factor was bigger on the first one, I think. --Olaf

I'm not so "hot" on the color, but I LOVE the composition. Especially how each seed is overlapping to create a solid figure.
