Smooch

I thought I'd crawl outside my comfort zone and shoot my daughter [*sMiLe*]. Sorry, but the chick is my Number 1 model. In addition, after iso's little tryst in Challenge 16, I thought a wholesomeness booster shot was in order. Bend over, iso. This'll only hurt a little...

P.S. Olaf: When she puts on my shades, she looks just like me [*sMiLe*].

Hey Teapot, long time no speak. Thanks for your comments. Unlike most candid portraits I've shared, I coached her on this. I wanted a more head-up angle, so I got low and remninded her to keep my shades from sliding down her nose. With that covered, a prodding "give us a kiss" yielded the smooch. Some days she listens, others not [*sMiLe*] --Joe

This is just great Joe. Colours are perfect and that expression is excellent. Did she come up with pose or did you ask her to do it?

The reflection is cool, but her expression is priceless! Wonderful shot, Joe!

iso: Her hair was still wet in places, yielding an unflattering look, so I wanted to dial back the detail and contrast in areas. I applied a *mild* softening to the entire image, with the dominant forms (shades, nose, lips) masked from the treatment. In comparing the original (a crop of which is here -->http://www.pbase.com/image/30113411), the effect on the skin seems mild to me. That said, I appreciate the feedback. Post-work is subjective, and balance/touch is easier to maintain when the feedback is direct. Thanks. --Joe

The colours of the shades are just great. They really stand out. Have you been touching up the skin? Looks a bit overprocessed to my eye (just MHO). I'm sure her skin is perfect without it. A good pic as always though.

Fun summer picture, Joe. No complaints here about daughter pictures. :)

joe-
i like this the best of all the sunglass shots submitted. i think this is sort of hard to do because of the risk of seeming cliche. but i like this because your image makes me more interested in the girl behind the sunglasses than the reflection in them...plus, i know what you mean about daughters and photography.

I'm more fascinated with her lips than the reflection, Joe! Great shot! Shu
