I like this idea, but might try a few more takes of it. Removed the flash, set the camera on a 15 sec. shutter speed and shot the flash in my hand as I poured the 'gems'.

i don't know how it happened but it looks like the marbles are falling UP because of the direction of the streaks. perhaps 2nd curtain flash sync would have fixed this? also, i would have tilted the camera to break up the vertical, centered composition. and cropped in a little closer. i think this theme is best expressed not only with a moving subject but by framing it such that it takes the viewer's eye for a ride as well...
