Jim, this is really a beautiful panorama! I love the golden light on the wheatfield, and the composition with you walking away down the deserted road. The leather jacket is a nice touch too. Your portraits never fail to move me :-). Lisafx

Thanks for the comments everyone.
And you're right - this was a pain in the neck to do. I had to do this several times, and I did while taking a detour driving from Fargo to Minneapolis. I wanted to get the shot near my grandparents' old farm that I went to growing up.
The hardest part of this was timing my walk to be at the point of focus at the time the shutter clicked. That's why the dof is more than I wanted, but I had to close it down to increase my chances of getting the shot. I have some with me standing facing the other way but didn't like them as much (and they were OOF).
Oh, and all this was done with a 3, 4, and 6 year old waiting impatiently (read: wailing) in the van. This was the only peaceful 30 minutes of my trip. ;-)
ISO3200, I'm not opposed to showing my face, just didn't lend itself so much with this photo. I have a straight on shot in the exhibition gallery.
Gorgeous shot. Ironic that although its a self portrait its actually the landscape that makes it work so well. Although I'm really impressed with it, I can see the pitfalls in setting up this shot on your own - like the telegraph pole projecting out of your head. Part of me really wants to see you walking to the camera so we can see your face. But then again maybe it's the uniqueness of the shot that stirs me.

I really like this shot, the sense of scale and composition are great. Looks like your starting on a long journey...

I love this shot. Did you do a composite, or did you in fact run like hell? :)

At first I am caught up in the image, staring into the field. Then the reality hits - set the camera on a tripod, set the timer, then run like heck down the road - STOP - walk calmly. I love it. What a fun shot :) - R

Nice photo Shutter. It reminds me of a recent trip I took to my home town in Ohio.
