Olaf.dk, The flash was triggered with a manual switch. A string attached between the switch and arrow tripped the switch. I could move the switch back and forth to trigger the flash where I wanted it. There is a few more with different timing in this gallery:

Thanks Traveller, Actually the shutter speed had no effect on the exposure. It was dark and the flash was the only light. I used the fasted flash I have.
Astounding...but a slowish shutter speed....or was that necessary to the shot? I would have liked to have seen the arrow in sharp focus with a higher shutter speed, but I presume that you tried that already. But still, a fabulous image. Traveller
