I have a tree with them in my front yard about eight feet of the ground, I have been stung by one, and they hurt. They are beautiful bees, and the nest is growing. They really dont bother me when cutting grass. They have not posed a big threat to us yet (only one sting), but we would like to know how me may get rid of them without harming them. Is that possible? Thanks! Joe G

Another nice shot of a bald-faced "hornet," Dolichovespula maculata.
