right through to the end of the chancel...little chancel arch or interruption of the space. The tower had to be rebuilt in the C19th, but unlike the situation at Ely leading to the spectacular crossing and lantern, Peterborough kept it all very low key.
Notable also none of the cylindrical columns characteristic of cathedrals and abbeys from the romanesque era
