Pykenham's Gatehouse

One of Ipswich's gems is this late C15th gatehouse. Built by the archdeacon of Suffolk within a century of the Peasants' Revolt, the senior clergy still felt in need of a bit of protection. A bit like Helen's Riyadh gates, only either there are no peasants in Saudi to revolt or they are more firmly kept in their place

What an excellent capture of this gatehouse. Perhaps this was the precursor for the gates in Riyadh!
