Dunlin in flight

although not as beautiful as Avocets in individual markings, these mass in far larger quantities here and there is a magic as they turn against the sun and the dark streaks in the paired photo turn to a blaze of white

I gather Dunlin are rare vagrants to my part of the world (migratory shorebirds are not something I know a lot about). You sure have them in abundance; terrific.
