just happened to get up to see it about to clear the Malvern Hills; bleary eyed and hand-held

The moon is 'super' as its only 360,000 km away, while it could be upto 405,000 and usually somewhere between

The 96% left refers to the illuminated proportion. The bite out of the bottom is where its still behind trees on top of the hill. Needless to say looked better 20secs earlier before camera organised.

Moody capture, Chris. Yes, "super" is just the media's way to sensationalize a rather ordinary occurrence. I love the prognostications about the end of the world, larger-than-life, etc., misinformation attendant to the media blitz.
