Flood waters cutting the Warri Warri Creek crossing.

Near Naryilco Station, Qld.

The organisers of the Drive permitted participants to take alternative routes to the designated destinations, although the practice was not encouraged. In so doing, back up in case of mishap could not be guaranteed as the rear sweep was travelling the preferred route. As our little group had travelled the area on many occasions and were well equipped we took the decision to take alternative tracks wherever possible. This took us north through the Warri Gate. A few klms south of Naryilco Station we turned west to head towards Camerons Corner. Just a few klms on we came to where the swollen Warri Warri Creek had cut the track. It was impossible to cross the creek at this point. A long detour around the flood waters was necessary before we finally arrived back on the track we had originally chosen.
